Lucy Wright Ceramics
I first saw Lucy's amazing ceramics at a craft fair – ooh, I had to photograph them.
At first glance, her ceramic sculptures look quite realistic, it takes closer inspection to appreciate Lucy's vivid imagination. Several pots are built up from separate pieces, the crabs' claws and turtles flippers held on to a 'chassis' with imaginatively twisted wire, then the outer shell placed on top. The rich surface textures and patterns created by a combination of scribing and pressing hand crafted textiles into the surface of the clay. The finishing touch is Lucy's use of colour bringing the creatures to life.
